If you’re a regular follower over here, you’ll know that fashion is a BIG part of my life. Not only did I study it at university, but I love keeping up-to-date with all of the latest trends and news. So when I received a message from the lovely Laura over at www.laurabradshaw.co.uk to say that I’d won two tickets for Stylist Live thanks to her fabulous giveaway, I was absolutely ecstatic.
I couldn’t believe it when my name was revealed in Laura’s comments and after it finally sunk in that I had won tickets for Stylist Live, it dawned on me that this was my first chance to get out and enjoy something for myself since Archie was born. Oh and I got to take my bestie out for a well-deserved treat too!
Having studied fashion journalism and being an avid magazine reader, Stylist is up there with one of my favourite publications, making this opportunity even more exciting.
I used to attend so many events like this back when I was at school, studying at university and working for magazines in my spare time, so I felt quite nostalgic spending my day like this again. I somehow felt like the old me, the Sian that gets super excited and inspired being around like-minded people.
There was so much to see and do from inspirational talks, great food stalls, new brands to discover and amazing catwalks. I could have quite easily spent hours just at the food counters alone, but somehow I managed to resist the temptation of buying their entire stock.
I even discovered the wondrous world of gin (I know you’re thinking that I must have been living under a rock over here to have only just tasted gin, but hey, I’ve been growing a human over here!) I have to say, I am definitely a gin convert, especially because it comes in pink form – does life get any better? Oh yea it does, it was free. Thanks Stylist!
Living 300 miles away from my best friend and fellow fashion journalist makes it incredibly difficult to get any quality time together, especially since Archie came along. Having this weekend to spend time with Laura just made the world of difference to my mood. I’ll admit I’ve been struggling lately, upset that I don’t have my family and bestie near to just have a cuppa and a catch up, so this was most definitely needed. I suddenly didn’t feel like just a mother, I felt like a normal human being again and it was so up-lifting.
I just love when you leave somewhere feeling completely inspired to push yourself into something new, and that’s exactly how I felt as I walked out of the doors of Olympia. Attending an event full of like-minded people made me realise what I want to achieve out of life and I’m so very excited for all of the amazing things to come. So stay tuned!
Did you attend Stylist Live? What did you think?
