For those of you who know me, or have discovered the obvious from reading other posts on this site, sewing is my passion. It has been since I was young, but more so since starting secondary school and having a dedicated lesson to it every week.
Anyway, while I was pregnant I wanted to sew as many things as possible for my baby so that I could introduce them into the world of crafting from the get go. Unfortunately I didn’t get to do as much as I planned as I was honestly just so exhausted all of the time. However little did I know the people I love were planning a gift for me more amazing than I could have ever wished for.
I love Peter Rabbit, and I tried to incorporate as many elements of the classic tale into the nursery decor itself. My baby shower even had cute little chocolates with a Peter Rabbit print on the front of them.
This post is a big shout out to say thank you to my wonderful mam, nannie, auntie, best friend and cousin for making Archie the most amazing sensory quilt imaginable. The quilt itself contains blocks featuring characters from the series that each person made for me, each with their name embroidered on too.
As well as each character being made from a range of fabrics, perfect fir Archie to touch and feel, there’s also other fun elements to the play mat too. There’s squeakers inserted in some of the vegetables and a teething ring to chew on. Plus a dangling carrot for added interest.
At the minute Archie can’t appreciate the mat fully, although he does love to lay on it and listen to me squeak the various sections, but I can’t wait until he can do it all himself.
