With Barbie in the title, there’s no questioning what colour we’re talking about here. If I’ve not mentioned previously, pink happens to be my favourite colour. In fact, my granddad has always joked that I won’t buy something unless it comes in pink – to be fair, he has a point! Maybe it stems from the days he’d let me run wild in Toys ‘R’ Us and we’d discuss whether supermarket Barbie was better than surfer Barbie. Those were the days…
So yes, this post is most definitely dedicated to my favourite childhood memories spent with my granddad.
Oh and by the way, yep I was in Primark… AGAIN!
I’m not going to lie, when I spotted this jumper just casually hanging on the rail, I may have skipped over to it a little quicker than I care to admit. That could have also had something to do with the ‘reductions’ sign hanging above it.
After getting my hands on it, I held it up to my body and took a minute to look at my reflection in a nearby mirror. “Can I get away with this?” “Am I too old for such a bright jumper?” “Will the style suit me?”
Then I thought, “stop doubting it, Sian. Just go for it!” Who said you can’t rock a Barbie pink number at 23? And at only £5 how was I supposed to just leave it hanging there. Exactly, I simply couldn’t!
Plus, if I’m going to get down with this whole cooler weather malarkey, then I’m damn well going to rock it in my Barbie pink jumper.
How to style
I’ve styled this off-the-shoulder jumper with ripped denim jeans and a pair of grey suede-effect ankle boots. The colour really does the talking, so there’s no need for over-styling. If you’re enjoying a super lazy day, then you could always pair this with a pair of leggings or yoga pants too.
Has a childhood memory helped mould your style?
