I’ll let you into a little secret… until now I’ve been a bit of a pushover, a ‘yes’ kind of girl. I’ve been taken advantage of in almost all aspects of my life including love and work and this is definitely something I want to change.
I was confessing my sins to my friend the other week and she told me about a book I needed to read, Why Men Love Bitches. When she was telling me about how much it changed her perspective on life, I knew I needed to get myself a copy.
I wasted no time in buying the kindle edition and armed with a freshly made brew, I sat down and began to read.
It didn’t take me long to realise where I’d been going wrong all this time. My attitude was all wrong and I needed to act quickly before I dug myself a deeper hole. Who knew you could actually be too nice? (and that’s not me blowing my own trumpet, just a simple statement about my ‘yes’ attitude).
“Be an independent thinker at all times, and ignore anyone who attempts to define you in a limiting way.” Sherry Argov
So why do men love bitches?
It’s hard to get your head around at first, but once you do, the reason is quite simple. Men favour the chase. They enjoy being kept on their toes and wondering what move you will make next.
It’s about being a strong woman, true to yourself, and being comfortable standing your ground. You will gain more respect from men when they realise you’re not a pushover.
It’s not all about your love life…
This applies to every aspect of your life, not just how you are in love. It’s about not letting anyone control you, and forming your own opinions and sticking to them. It’s about maintaining happiness and doing things for yourself, not just to please others.
A few of my favourite quotes from the book…
“Until he gives you a reason not to trust him, behave as though you trust him.”
“Live by your own rules. Move to your own rhythm, instead of dancing to the beat of someone else’s drum. Decide how you want to be treated. Choose what you will or will not tolerate. Leave if you don’t get what you want.”
“When you meet someone who is truly great, he makes you believe you can be great too. This is the kind of relationship you want, and it’s the only kind of relationship worth having.”
“Once you start laughing, you start healing.”
Have you read Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat To Dreamgirl? What did you think?
