Wait, hold on a second… I have a nine month old baby? How have you been out in this big wide world as long as you were safe and sound inside my belly? I’m really not prepared for the fact that in a matter of three short months you will be one, I feel like my little baby is disappearing right before my eyes. But as hard as that is to accept, things are starting to get really fun now.
You’re learning so much now and developing such a cheeky personality. In the last month you’ve celebrated your first Christmas and your first New Year and now there are few remaining firsts to experience, but that’s ok, there’s still plenty of milestones for you to complete.
You’ve nearly mastered the art of standing up on your own two feet, completely unaided and I know that your first steps really aren’t far away now. You’re so independent and sometimes it feels like you barely need me anymore, but that’s ok – it just proves how wonderful you truly are.
We’ve experienced your first flu and chest infection – which really wasn’t fun for any of us, but the antibiotics sorted you out in no time. It took me right back to when you were ill in the NICU when you were born. It made me feel so helpless but cuddles from mammy and daddy were what you needed.
I can’t believe how quickly you’re growing up, but each and every day is a new adventure with you and I’m so beyond lucky that I get to watch you grow up into the wonderful little boy that you are. Here’s to the next amazing month of being your mammy.
