Another week on, and another week further into Archie’s Water Babies journey we go. I honestly can’t believe how well he has developed in a matter of four short lessons.
I always dreamed that I’d have a baby who was confident in water, like I always was, but of course you can never be too sure. But like always, this little boy is here to prove to me how amazing he is – not like I didn’t already know! He’s gaining so much confidence in the water, to the point where he just wants to be independent and do it on his own. He tries to push himself into the water and swim out of Chris’ arms when he’s being held.
His instructor believes he’s going to be a great swimmer, and can already see so much potential in him. When she takes him for a swim around the pool, she always comments on how strong he is and how great he is at kicking – that’s my boy. So when he was in my belly kicking away so violently, maybe this is what he was destined to do all along.
This week he had three underwater swims, which is one more than previously, which just proves how well he is doing. He’s totally not fazed by the water, and is quickly learning to hold his breath after we say the magic words, “Archie, ready, go!”
They also tried out a new floating trick with a pool noodle where Archie learns to float more easily on his back, keeping his ears under the water.
I have been so impressed with the Water Babies programme, although I do believe Archie could perhaps do with some more advanced classes as he seems to be the strongest by quite a lot in his lessons.
We’re so excited for the New Year though and his last two remaining classes for stage 1. If you’re looking to book swimming lessons for your little one, then I couldn’t recommend these classes enough. For more information, head to www.waterbabies.co.uk
